- President Gee will travel to Washingion DC to attend and speak at a MAC event hosted by WV donors/alums. Additionally, he will attend a meeting of the Association of Public Land Grant Universities, meet with donors, meet with Department of Defense officials regarding the National Security Technology Accelerator initiative w/ WV's Innovation Center, attend an event in honor of WV's 153th anniversary on Capitol Hill and attend the Business Higher Education Forum summer meeting. - Blake traveled to meet with members of the Legislature to discuss House Concument Resolution 41, Establishing the Virtual Library Study Commission to conduct a study regarding development of a statewide virtual library and to submit a written report of findings and recommendations to the House Education Committee and the Senate Education Committee not later than March 1, 2019. During his time in Charleston, he met with members, legal counsel, education-related stakeholders and others to discuss this resolution, open textbooks and educational 1
- Coordinating Dr. Sharma's participation in the CNSF event and Congressional meetings with the WV Delegation 1
- Dr Kolar attended a transition meeting in Dallas as she moves into her new role as Faculty Athletic Representative at WVU. Dr Kolar flew back with President Gee and Mrs Erickson. 1
- Gov. Jim Justice will conduct a press conference, Monday, February 5, 2018, to introduce the DHHR's new Director of Drug Control Policy and to announce a partnership between the DHHR and West Virginia University on a new pilot program aimed at addressing the state's drug crisis. 1
- Jim Hoyer will travel to Charleston for meetings with WV legislators related to higher education and economic development during the legislative session 1
- Joyce and Rob will be joining WVU Dean Dan Robison to a lunch meeting, hosted by the Governor. The topic is to discuss Davis College and their work in the natural resources sector, and how that may spur economic growth in the entire state. 1
- Mark Culp, Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics, was chosen by the American Statistical Association to represent them by showcasing the NSF-funded research he has conducted while here at WVU. Mark's research is titled "Machine Leaming Solutions to Big Data Problems" This research focuses on advancing the analytical methods of accessing/synthesizing "big data" that come from a variety of sources. In addition to the CNSF event, Dr. M. Culp will be meeting with the WV Congressional Delegation to share the background and developinents related to Dr. Culp's NSF-funded data research. 1

- President Gee gave a keynote address at the Higher Learning Commission Annual Conference Presidents' Program in Chicago, IL on Saturday, April 1. He was invited to participate in Full Court Press, a seminar that Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law organized on April 3. President Gee's panel was titled "A Conversation on Spors" and his panelists included the President from University of Houston and the athletic director from Ohio State University. He also participated in a donor relations meeting in Phoenix. In Charleston, President Gee will meet with Governor Justice and the Exploratory Committee at the Governor's request. 1

- Provost McConnell attended WVU Day at Shepherd University, the inaugural Shepherd University Graduate Studies Information Day featuring Masters and Doctoral programs from West Virginia University. She provided opening remarks along with Shepherd University President Dr. Mary Hendrix. 1
- Shikha Shanna, Associate Professor/Associate Chair of Geology, will be representing WVU with her Marcellus Shale research titled "The Shale Tales" at the CNSF annual Hill Reception. Dr. Sharma has conducting numerous studies in the area of Shale Gas research and is the director of the WVU Stable Isotope Laboratory, which was predominantly funded by NSF. In addition to the CNSF event, we will be meeting with the Congressional oflice to share the background and developments related to Shale Gas research out of Dr. Sharma's lab. 1
- Stacey Culp, Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics, was asked to represent, along with Dr. M. Culp, the American Statistical Association by showcasing the additional applications and leveraged projects that resulted from Dr. M. Culp's NSF-funded "big data research. Stacey will be provicing additional context to the applications and research possibilities that have resulted from the initial NSF-funding. She will also be making the WV Congressional Delegation meetings tos howcase WVU's work in the area of Big Data. 1
